Solana Beach is a community in San Diego County with a population of over 12,000. Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, the city of Encinitas to the north, the city of Del Mar to the south, and Rancho Santa Fe to the east, Solana Beach is a relatively tranquil coastal town. Solana Beach was the first city in the Continental United States to enact a smoking ban on its public beaches. Of the 5,754 households in Solana Beach, 27.4% are from 45 to 64 years old and 17.3% are 65 years of age or older.
