Oceanside, California
Early in its history, Oceanside was a small beach town along a 6 mile stretch of beach. Today Oceanside has communities on both the east and west side of I-5 and is the third largest city in San Diego County with a population of over 175,000. The Oceanside area together with Vista and Carlsbad is sometimes called the “Tri City” area. Camp Pendleton, the busiest military base in the United States, is also located just north of Oceanside.
Some of the notable attractions in Oceanside are of course the beautiful beaches. Oceanside has about 3 miles of sandy beaches which host surfing competitions during the year. You can also jog, bike, or walk along the beachfront roadway. Oceanside Pier is the longest wooden pier on the west coast where you can fish without a license. At Oceanside Harbor and Marina area, you can rent boats, kayaks, and jet skis or enjoy a number of good restaurants. Other things to do in the Oceanside area are a visit to the Mission San Luis Rey, an old mission founded by Father Junipero Serra, or Guajome County Park which has trails, playground, a small lake for fishing, campsites and picnic areas.
Oceanside residents typically use the North San Diego County Court House located at 325 South Melrose Dr. in Vista off Highway 78. These courts hear civil and criminal cases,, family law, probate, small claims, adoptions, traffic and minor offenses. There is also a business office for filing court cases and a law library.
