Escondido, California
Escondido, California is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County and borders Rancho Bernardo where our law office is located. The economy in Escondido is based upon high tech, light industry, retail services, single family homes, apartment complexes, agriculture, tourism and others. In July 2001, Money Magazine named Escondido the best place to retire in the West.
A major tourist attraction is the Wild Animal Park (part of the San Diego Zoo) located on the outskirts of Escondido where there is plenty of room for animals to roam in an open habitat. Escondido also has the California Center for the Performing Arts, the Children’s Museum, and the Mingei Museum. Stone Brewing recently moved its brewery and headquarters from San Marcos to Escondido. There are several large lakes in Escondido including Dixon Lake, Lake Hodges, and Lake Wohlford where you can fish, camp, hike, picnic, and boat. At Daley Ranch located in north Escondido you can hike, mountain bike, and ride horses.
Escondido residents typically use the North San Diego County Court House located at 325 South Melrose Dr. in Vista off Highway 78. These courts hear civil and criminal cases, family law, probate, small claims, adoptions, traffic and minor offenses. There is also a business office for filing court cases and a law library.
